NTC mill buyers can build pending final order: SC
So now what ? I'd assume this still doesn't mean anything really concrete since NTC had in its agreements stated that in case they fall short of proportioning the land, they will compensate the buyers with land from other mills.
Note that the Supreme Court has also stated that this interim order is subject to the final verdict on the mill land case. Hence, if the Supreme Court holds that mill land owners will have to share the total land with BMC and MHADA, then the NTC will give this extra bit to DLF, Indiabulls, etc from their other mills. And if the Supreme Court holds that the space on which these mills are built are to be excluded from the definition of open spaces, then its party time for everyone.
With the Government regularising the Ulhasnagar illegal buildings, I am not hoping for anything great from the Supreme Court on this issue. Malls, buildings, theatres, etc. will come up in the mill land areas and the city as we know will take another hit for open spaces. I want to believe in that four-letter word "hope", but it gets tough..at times, it does get tough.
